Privacy Notice

  • When you join LIPU-UK, personal information that you provide (name, address, postcode, email address and telephone number) are entered into a membership database. This database is used only to manage LIPU-UK’s activities. From time to time, your personal information is processed, for example to generate a mailing list for the Ali newsletter. Because of this, we are required by law to make you aware of the following information, including your rights;
  • LIPU-UK is the ‘Data Controller’ for your personal information. LIPU-UK is not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer; David Lingard acts as the Controller’s representative.
  • The purpose of the processing of your personal information is to manage membership and subscriptions, to send out Ali and related information (eg. the annual draw) and (where relevant) to process Gift Aid declarations.
  • In all cases, the lawful basis for the processing is the ‘legitimate interests’ of LIPU-UK and LIPU.
  • The legitimate interests of LIPU-UK are to manage the Charity effectively in order to raise funds for conservation work undertaken by LIPU. The legitimate interests of LIPU are to undertake that conservation work. Further information on ‘legitimate interests’ can be obtained on request from the Controller’s representative.
  • Your personal information is not provided to any other recipients. Furthermore, LIPU-UK will not transfer your personal information to third countries except that which is needed by LIPU in Italy to print membership cards..
  • Your personal information is retained while you are a member. If you cease to be a member, your personal information will be removed from LIPU-UK’s systems within 12 months.
  • Under the law, you have a number of rights. These are the right to be informed (this Privacy Notice); the right of access; the right to rectification; the right to erase; the right to restrict processing; the right to data portability; the right to object and rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling. Further information on these rights can be obtained on request from the Controller’s representative, or accessed online on the website of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
  • You have a right to withdraw consent at any time to LIPU-UK’s use of your personal information. If you choose to do so, please contact the Controller’s representative.
  • You have a right to lodge a complaint over LIPU-UK’s use of your personal information. In the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the relevant authority.
  • The provision of your personal data is not part of a statutory or contractual requirement or obligation. However if you fail to provide the personal information (e.g. a current address) it will make it difficult for us to contact you.
  • We do not attempt to use automated processing or profiling on the personal information that you have provided.
