Bunting
(Emberiza
melanocephala)
This bunting is very
common in the eastern Mediterranean and on the island of Lesvos it is,
perhaps, the most common bird of the countryside.
However we called it
the "Camera Bird" because it would perch high on a bush and
sing until I raised a camera when the bird would just drop into the
cover of the bush.
It seemed to take
the entire two week stay in Lesvos to achieve even this picture...
