(Carduelis carduelis)
This is one of my favourite pictures and I think it proved the point that the bird does not have to rare or exotic to make a pleasing photograph.
This common English finch was feeding with a small flock, called a "charm" when I found them on the teasels.
Eventually I got close enough for this image, taken in the low winter sun.
