In the French
Pyrenees in the autumn of 1999 we decided to climb the Breche de Roland
to see if we could see any Wallcreepers. Although the climb started
about 6000 feet we still had over 3000 to go and it was steep - over
scree, boulders and glacier! At times we thought we were mad but we did
get to the top and we did see a couple of Wallcreepers.
On
the way down we stopped for a brief rest at the mountain refuge and it
was there that I got this shot of an Alpine Chough on a rock below.
